HOMEBODY: Finalists from the ILHAM Kids ‘MCO’ Art Competition

5 January - 9 May 2021 (LEVEL 3)

In 2020, ILHAM launched an art competition during the MCO (Movement Control Order) with the theme ‘Homebody’ for kids aged 4 to 12 years old. As the MCO was a challenging time for younger members of the family, we wanted to offer them a space to channel their creativity, since research has shown that art-making is a great way to help reduce anxiety and boredom. After receiving over a hundred submissions, we are pleased to present you with the thirty-four artworks that were selected by the ILHAM team. All the artworks are hung at a child’s eye level.

As you wander through the gallery, notice the similarities and differences between each artist’s interpretation of ‘Homebody.’ Some artists have taken the literal route by presenting us with activities and glimpses into their daily lives, while others have chosen to commemorate the frontliners. The theme also lends itself to a more abstract reading, which is emblematic of the esoteric qualities displayed in some works.

Congratulations to all the selected artists!
